Dorchester has a very diverse population which includes a large portion of European Americans, Irish-American immigrants, Caribbean Americans, Latinos, and East and South Eastern Asians. In the early part of the twentieth century Dorchester saw a large wave of European immigrants from countries like Ireland,French Canada,Poland, Italy. Later on that time period African Americans from the south migrated to the town which led to the spark of triple decker apartments. In the 1950s to the 1980s the demographics of the town began to transform when the Jewish and the Irish were mostly replaced by people from the Caribbean, Asia and African countries.
