The Caribbean immigrants of Dorchester accounts for around 16 % of the population. Blue Hill Ave, which connects Dorchester, Mattapan and Roxbury is the center of Caribbean Culture display. The Caribbean festival that takes place anually on the last Saturday in August is a combination of unity, loud music which incudes soca, reggae/ dancehall and calypso on steel drums. Although the event does go on for as long as it used to due to conflicts and acts of violence it shuld stillto be given credit for uniting people in and outside of the Caribbean culture while maintaining organization and consistency.
